The Amazing Security Bank USA Lumberjack Scramble

The 29^th Annual Security Bank^USA Lumberjack Scramble will be held on Friday, August 11^th at the Bemidji Town & Country Club. We are very excited for this year’s Scramble and invite you to get involved!
 

The Security Bank^USA Lumberjack Scramble evolved from a discussion by Jim Mergens and Jon Sand to find a way to supplement their athletic budgets because of lack of funds throughout the School District. Jim then approached John Baer of Security Bank^USA about a possible sponsorship for a fundraising golf tournament. John Baer, who has always been a strong community supporter and a third-generation community banker welcomed the opportunity to be the sponsor of the event. The first Security Bank^USA Lumberjack Scramble took place on August 11, 1995.

The proceeds from the Scramble are donated to the Bemidji Lumberjack Foundation and benefit Bemidji High School and Middle School activities. Last year more than $56,600 was raised! To date, we have raised over $914,696 for the Bemidji Lumberjack Foundation.  

The Scramble is truly a wonderful event!  We have families that play as a team every year and many coming from different parts of the country. It is also unique in the sense of having mixed teams. Many BHS alumni play in the scramble when they return to Bemidji for their class reunion. Also, student athletes participate as caddies or help on the course.

Businesses from the area and beyond have contributed to the event by being a hole sponsor or by donating silent auction, raffle, and door prizes.
